Urban Pubs & Bars has continued its strong momentum into 2026, building on a sustained period of growth to further strengthen its position as London’s leading independent pub operator. Founded in 2014 by Nick Pring and Malc Heap, the business has expanded rapidly through a combination of acquisitions, refurbishments and new openings, with its estate now standing at around 66 venues across the capital.
Following the acquisition of four Albion & East venues in late 2025 - Teatro Hall, Canova Hall, Botanica Hall and Serata Hall - Urban accelerated its expansion again in January 2026 with the addition of five more London sites: The Prince Regent in Herne Hill, The Roebuck and The Steam Packet in Chiswick, The Queens in Crouch End and Coco Momo in Kensington. Shortly afterwards, the group also acquired The Birdcage in East London, marking its sixth acquisition of the year.
The group’s growth has been underpinned by strong trading. Industry reporting in January said Urban had delivered like-for-like sales growth of 14.5% in December, alongside a 40% increase in total covers, with annual sales now exceeding £100m.
Urban Pubs & Bars remains focused on preserving the individuality of each venue while investing in high-quality food and drink, considered design and neighbourhood-led hospitality. That approach continues to shape a portfolio spanning landmark London pubs, bars and restaurants, from long-established community locals to high-energy city venues and destination dining sites.
With continued investment, a proven acquisition strategy and confidence in the resilience of London hospitality, Urban Pubs & Bars is well positioned for further growth throughout 2026.
